It’s NaNoWriMo!!!

on November 4, 2013

This is like my New Year Resolution. I’m going balls to the wall for the first two weeks (if I’m being honest, it’ll be like, 5 days) and then something will happen and that shit won’t get done. I need a partner in crime, you guys. I need someone else who is writing this year so that I can exchange emails/telephone numbers and we can be like, “Did you write? DID YOU WRITE?! WRITE, DAMMIT!!!! DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!”

………psychopathic serial killers need not apply. Unless you’re funny. If you’re funny and don’t have a taste for short Jews, we can work something out.

Anyone??

I’ll write with you. I need someone to kick my ass because I am the worst blogger ever. How long do we have to do it for?

  2. I’m in too. If I don’t finish this script rewrite IMMEDIATELY I’m going to be so sick of myself. Or sicker, anyway. We do need more guidelines though. Guide away!

Ok, here’s what happened with me: I have two stories that are, like, HUGE things for me… meaning they would turn into novels, blah blah blah, and I really want them to say something. I know how pretentious that sounds, but anyway… so, I keep psyching myself out. I keep feeling all this stupid internal pressure to make them the BEST EVER. The “best” what, I don’t know. So, I’m taking a different route this November. I just finished watching a foreign tv show, and I’ve decided to write fanfic on it. Strictly speaking, that’s not what Nanowrimo is about, but MY problem is really *finishing* my stories, so if I can get into the habit of FINISHING things, even fanfic, then I can move that momentum over to the stuff I’m getting freaked out over. Thoughts? How is your script going??

      • Fan fiction is a great strategy to bust through a block. I wrote a sappy essay about my dead father that ran on our local public radio instead of working on my script. The script is still coming along. The rewrite is a bitch. However, you do have to write the shitty first draft first. I had a teacher who called it that. It’s vital to give yourself permission to write any old crap to get started. I get tied up in knots over the perfection thing too. Today is all about the Middle Grade Gothic novel rewrite (which is also taking forever). Then back to the script. It’s a grind but I am getting better. Not much of a pep talk! Sorry! See if you can rent “Throw Mama From the Train” over there. It’s my favorite film about writer’s block and hilarious!

      • P.S., Once you are happy with your act, I know someone in Paris who can get you stage time — if you are ever in Paris. !!!

Good luck! My November goal isn’t writing, but I’ll be right there with you…”did you work on your new business? Work on it dammit! Work on it!!!!!!!!!!!” Here’s to a successful and productive November! Good luck you saucy minx. NOW GO WRITE DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!
